Blog Questions/Answers
All of the posts on this site are blogable. If you have questions and or would like to add your comments please feel free to express yourself in the comments section of every post.
Your comments and questions can help others see a side that perhaps I don’t notice or I’m not informed about. All of our experiences combined shape the world we live in. By blogging we create a forum similar to the ancient forum in Greece or Rome where important decisions were reached that had an impact on a particular community.
If you look back through the posts you can see some of the thread that has started and can continue at anytime.
I’ll post some questions and answers by permission to start a thread or dialogue.
I’ve started using your book as a study guide. Several pages have been marked as particularly important to me. When you discussed your landmark (such as when multi-fighting p.22), you discuss a “mental point” within yourself. It brings you into a higher state of awareness, or the alpha state. Also, (p.39) “Stress and being overly focused on one specific event limits your intuitional ability. I’ve learned to relax and go into the relaxation landmark of my mind more when stressful situations arise.”
Thanks again for everything and congratulations on the book. I’m starting to see it as life-changing for me. And as far as the questions go, I promise I won’t bug you. It’s hard not to sound like some starry-eyed teenager, but this stuff is great. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have been a SEAL for so long, especially at SEAL Team Six. All I can really say is wow and of course, thank you. Gerald Thanks Gerald for the questions and feel free to post as often as you like. The answer to all three of your questions lies in just one answer. - When I talk of the landmark I’m talking about a conscious trigger in your mind that will instantly bring you to a certain state of mind. Nuero Linguistic Programming (NLP) as I discuss in the book is how words affect our consciousness. If I say the word STOP what response does that engender for you? It’s the same with feelings as well if for instance you are doing Jiu Jitsu or any martial art, are you fighting from fear/tension or from a relaxed state? In the fear state you will be limited physically and mentally by the anxiety produced by the fear state and the detrimental effects it produces. By relaxing and fighting out of love the relaxation this produces will allow creative thought to come through and will be less taxing on your muscles. If you watch the experts like the Gracie brothers who I have trained with they are the epitome of relaxation and love. They love their art and do it with finesse and grace. So find a mental phrase or a feeling that triggers a state of calm. You can create this state by relaxing and creating a phrase/word that you will go to when stressed. Throughout your day when you feel tension about anything in your life use this phrase/word/feeling to bring you back to calm. This is one of the keys to being intuitive. By training yourself to go to an intuitive mind by using the above technique you will find that you will increase your effectiveness in all aspects of your life. Pain tolerance is something I learned can be achieved by going to the intuitive mind. This state of mind allows you to become the observer of your pain and thus you can more easily let it wash through your body. I have been able to use this technique to stop bleeding, promote faster healing and even help heal others. Science has proven that brain states such as the alpha, delta and theta brain wave patterns induce good heath and cause more rapid healing. Remember the saying that laughter is the best medicine? That’s because you take the focus off of the pain/sickness and bring in the brain wave states that induce healing. Hope this helps! |
Michael Jaco served as a Navy SEAL for twenty-four years before becoming an independent security contractor. During his service he achieved what many others previously thought to be impossible or unattainable. He retired in December 2002 as a Navy "Chief" and started his own training organization which educates participants in tactical awareness skills. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, he now lives in Elgin with his wife and children.
Michael,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. To me, you are a hero, an inspiration and a teacher. I will continue to learn from you. I have already started integrating your teachings into my life and have seen results. I want to be a better warrior and I think the energy of love intuition may have been the missing piece for me.
I want to point out something particularly significant. I have learned a great deal about fear and love intuition from you. I now realize how fear has disguised itself over the years. It’s been the wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing. Tricky, that fear.
Fear has disguised itself as fatigue, laziness, misunderstanding, anxiety, doubt and insecurity. Doesn’t matter though, I know it all now to be fear. And now that I know that, the monster isn’t elusive anymore. It will still confront me and probably quite often, but it isn’t hiding beneath the shadows. It’s naked. It’s exposed. It’s vulnerable. And…it’s conquerable.
I think it’s important to also note that for me, love intuition is an all encompassing mentality. At times, I’ll get hurt grappling or feel like I’m about to die on a long run, or training evolution. It’s at those times that the fearful thoughts creep in, and I start second-guessing myself—“Why am I doing this? Why am I putting myself through this?” It’s crucial at those times to empty the mind and let the energy of love intuition permeate you. You need to think beyond that moment of pain. I like Jiu-Jitsu, but I love what it does for me. Grappling is fun, but I love confronting fear, dealing with pain and not crumbling, and facing an intimidating opponent and not cowering. In a nutshell, I love the feeling of being faced with something difficult, and withstanding the “test.” Jiu-Jitsu, for example, affords me the opportunity to constantly be tested. So, I think it’s key to understand all that a specific endeavor does for you. If Jiu-Jitsu was just the mechanical process of grappling, with nothing else to offer, I probably wouldn’t be as interested in it. If you can get yourself to understand that when the going gets tough, the value of finishing or seeing it through to completion (whatever “it” is) will far outweigh the pain you are currently experiencing.
Lastly, I’m learning to love the journey, the process. There’s a lot of great stuff going on—a lot of great things to learn about and become good at doing. Learning new things makes you smarter, and getting older makes you more wise. I like that combination. There’s a certain “coolness” that comes along with that pairing. There is no age limit and no time limit.
All of this great stuff takes practice and you can be a winner. You just have to realize that a winner is someone who refuses to give up.
It’s never too late.
Thanks,
Gerald
Great dialog and comments from both of you. I have also found that by becoming the “observer” of my pain or discomfort, I can relate to it more objectively and not create some over-dramatic dialog of how I’m suffering. A meditation practice over several years has helped me to move into that “observer” mode very quickly. It has taught me to simply be aware of what I’m telling myself and then to work with those thoughts in a way that can best get me to my goal. Keep up the great work both of you!

Thanks Lee!
Lee,
I started reading your book “The Brick House Band” and it is outstanding! I can see how you connected with The Intuitive Warrior” because we have a very similar outlook on success. The flow of the book is excellent and I really like the insight into the members of the band and how everyone has a focus on a positive outlook on life. Definitely going to book you guys when I reach the top! When I finish your book I’ll return your kindness and write a review on amazon and B&N.
Thanks for the wonderful things you and your band do Lee, Michael
